C-Kers Online 10

Hi Everyone. Welcome back to another edition of C-Kers online. This week we have the return of an old friend, Sruffy. Let’s go over to Jan and Scruffy to see what he’s been up to.

Scruffy thought that he could do what he liked without his owner and got into an awful mess. It reminds us that we can make a mess of everything when we do it without God. Our Bible story this week is about a man called Samson, who became a real hero in his day as he was very strong and defeated the Israelites’ enemies, the Philistines, who kept invading their land. Unfortunately, Samson thought all his strength was down to him and ignored what God had to say. That got him into a whole lot of trouble, as we shall see….

Samson thought that he was very clever and thought he could do anything he wanted, forgetting that he his strength came from God, and allowed himself to be fooled by Delilah into revealing the source of his strength – his long hair. If you’d like to read the story in the Bible, it’s in Judges chapters 13 to 16.

How many times have you been told by your parents that you must do what you are told, or you must follow instructions. Why do they do that? Because thay want to spoil your fun? Or because they are mean? No. It’s because they love you and don’t want you to come to harm.

God is our heavenly Father, and wants us to accept Jesus and follow Him and do what He says because He loves us and wants to be part of our lives, to bless us and wants us to follow Him. To do that we must realise that we do wrong things which God calls sin. Samson sinned when he became so proud he though that he could do no wrong and chased after Delilah even though God told him he shouldn’t because God knew that she would end up deceiving him and cutting off his hair. The rest was a sad story.

When we recognise we do wrong things and ask God to forgive us and ask Jesus into our lives, He gives us strength to do things that are right, put others first, tell the truth, not be spiteful or nasty, not be greedy, not be selfish. He gives us strenght when life gets difficult. He wants to you to become part of His family today. Ask Jesus into your life. Samson failed to live up to what God had called him to do, but in the end, found forgiveness, and his strength came back and the Philistines were beaten as their temple collapsed around them. However much we fail in life, we find we have a God who loves and forgives when we truly ask Him to forgive us.

Prayer: Thank you Father that you love me so much so that even when I fail and get myself into a mess, you still want to know me and bring forgiveness. Thank you Lord Jesus that you died for me so that my sins can be forgiven. Please come into my life and change me, and give me strength by Your Holy Spirit to be the person that you want me to be.

I ask this in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
